By which I mean, in my obfuscatory and heavy way, a hearty well done and pat on the back to those of you who have wrestled with the dastardly Olpas/PP form and bested it. As I know you have. The deadline (at last I heard) ended today, and so you can all put it behind you for now until those invites to interview start rolling in.
I did not feel quite ready for The (Daddy of All Soul-Destroying) Forms and so I will attempt it next year, when hopefully my chakras will be fully balanced and Jupiter is in Mercury, or the mercury is higher, etc.
But seriously, well done. You should all feel v proud. May you emerge, bleary eyed and pale from all the concentration and enjoy the gorgeous May Day bank holiday!

Jupiter was the god of law and justice wasnt he? So perhaps very appropriate lol
I also didnt apply this year, I simply don't have enough to put on it!
Even with all your mooting success?!
I don't have the grades unfortunately! And mooting is only the half of it :S I still need some more pro bono stuff on there and be fluent in sign language before I can even think of applying!!!
Sign language? How come?
My sister knows sign language, she did a GCSE in it or something. She taught me 'We wish you a happy xmas' but apparently I'm rubbish.
Grades are a pain. I hadn't realised how important it was in my first and second year- because we were being told that we needed 2.1s. I think the expectation was that we'd go into law firms. Should have worked harder then!
Did someone say Sunshine?? Holiday?? Mel?! Is that you?! Where am I?? What DAY is it - no, more importantly than that, what YEAR is it? I have been Time Travelling in the Pupillage Portal and have absolutely no CLUE about, well, pretty much EVERYTHING, really......
Thanks for this post, though; its made me feel a LOT better!
Sign language was just an example to show how amazing brilliant you have to be and all the extras you have to have before you are considered for interview for pupillage...
Though i do actually want to learn sign language, i think it would be really useful!
I'm half way to a 2:1, just need to make sure all my grades this year are good, and hopefully even maybe a first or two, to show future employers that I am not a thick shit, but was too busy getting pissed in my first and second years to care!!
just noticed the comments on sign language, I've been hoping to learn properly and I wondering if anyone knew a good way to go about it? Started a signing conversation with someone fluent in it last week in a club, and realised just how bad at it I was.
Hi Travis,
I'm not sure I can help - I think my sister learned at school because they had a couple of deaf students, it wasn't part of a regular curriculum. I do remember requesting a brochure from the Royal Institute for the Deaf though, years ago- they were pretty helpful, so I imagine you should ask them for help on classes etc.
City Lit might run classes- google them. They seem to have classes in everything!
thanks for the reply Mel, will check it out. :) x
